Bennett Place History Tour:
Meet at the Shell Station, 7411 Chapel Hill Road (NC 54), Raleigh, NC on Saturday, 5 June 2010.
This is the Southwest corner of I-40 and NC-54 between Cary and Raleigh.
Have a full tank and empty bladder at 10:00 AM for the start of the Tour. After a brief narrative about
where we are going (Bennett Place, 4409 Bennett Memorial Road, Durham, NC, phone: 919-383-4345),
reviewing the route and a safety meeting, we will ride to the Bennett Place. It will be about a half hour ride
on I-40 West, then NC-147 North to Exit 16B and then a few miles north to the State Historic Site. Keith
will lead us on a tour of the site and then we will watch 17 min. movie about events at the Bennett Place.
After allowing time to look over the museum and gift shop, we’ll ride two miles over to Bullock’s Bar-B-Cue
for lunch. Bullock’s has been serving some of the best Bar-B-Cue in the Triangle since 1952. Their
address is 3330 Quebec Drive, Durham, NC, phone: 919-383-3211, web site is http://bullocksbbq.com/
for menu information. Going on this tour is worth it just to eat a Bar-B-Cue sandwich from Bullock’s!
